GOM Player vs. VLC

VLC Media Player has dominated the scene of the free and multiplatform players in the last months or years. But a valid competitor is going to be really appreciated by the community: GOM Player.

“Simple, free and light. It just plays!”, they say. And it’s true, it’s a great player with all the common built-in codecs.

What are the missing features of VLC that are included in GOM Player? Well, some of them are really simple but they are what I was looking for in a video player:

  • Doubleclick on the main window during execution resizes the window to the exact proportions of the playing movie;
  • Skins are of good quality
  • The <enter> key enables/disables full-screen mode
  • Subtitles system supports anti-aliasing and other features
  • Simple saving of captured frames

So download it now and happy playing!

Oops, i forgot to say that GOM Player runs only on Windows, but a Linux version is being developed… and I hope it will soon become reality ;-)
